Tara Puckey is a freelance journalist, association management staffer, social media "person," communicator, and all around cool person based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She always enjoyed writing, premiering her work at the age of three with “Blue Dot, Yellow Dot,” a story about two colors that befriended each other. Later, she participated in the Young Authors competition and wrote an article for American Way magazine. No links because the Internets didn't yet exist *eye roll at age*.

Later in life, after choosing journalism in a list of alphabetical majors specifically because there was a very, very short list of math classes, she fell in love with the business. In 2011, she graduated from IU School of Journalism at IUPUI with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with High Distinction.

She served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Professional Journalists for two years before joining their staff in 2012 as Chapter Coordinator (AKA Herder of Pretty Awesome Journalist Volunteers). During her time at SPJ, Puckey has been involved in communications - try developing materials for 7,000+ copyeditors - , membership strategy, board development, leadership training ... list to continue in person if you care enough.

Because journalism organizations are great, Puckey also serves as the President of the Woman's Press Club of Indiana, an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women. She's also previously been involved with the Military Reporters and Editors, President of the Parent Teacher Organization at Maple Ridge Elementary and Chairperson of the Indiana National Guard 113th BSB Family Readiness Group.

When she isn't working, Puckey spends time with her husband, Bryan, and two daughters, Alexa and Brooklyn. Look at them. Aren't they cute?

They are. And, funny. And, generally more awesome than Puckey herself. Strangely interested in more of her personal life? Feel free to stalk on social.
